The Vineyard, Lamberhurst

I went with my partner and 2 children to this pub today (Father's Day) having booked 6 weeks in advance after seeing it had won "pub of the year' for 2007. All I can say is that the food and service was dreadful, the only saving grace being the children's climbing frame that my two really enjoyed.

For a start the waitress/waiters did not tell us about any of the specials and we only found out about them when we went to the loo and saw them on the board. The staff were very disorganised (even though there were quite a few of them) and the food, when it arrived, was of very poor quality - think 1980s bad school dinners and it will give you some idea. It was also v expensive for what it was. We counted ourselves lucky though as we only had to endure the experience for just over an hour, the poor people on the table next to us had to wait over an hour and half for their main course even though the pub was less than half empty. Walking through the pub I heard nothing but staff apologising to customers for some reason or another, and also had the misfortune of hearing the poor couple with their 2 children near us being spoken to in the most rudest of manners by the manager/barman because they dared to question something on the menu. All in all a HUGE disappointment and needless to say we will not be returning.
