The Bull, Arborfield
My husband and I went to this pub yesterday evening for a special wedding anniversary meal. The outside of the pub is very attractive, lots of signs with Good Food served here all day Delicious home cooked Food.. Please do not be fooled by the signage and the pleasant exterior to the properly.
When we walked in the pub was pretty much empty, there were a few people sitting in the beer garden, it was a nice day so we decided to eat in the garden. At the bar we were served by a gentleman who found it very hard to give us a smile. We looked at the menu and were surprised by how limited it was. 4 starters and a list of mains, which were not very exciting at all and mainly consisted of chips.
We made our food decision, ordered some drinks and sat in the garden. It was only until we got outside that we realised how dirty our drink glasses were.
Our food arrived in record time .. ! My husband ordered the Lasagne. It was basically a sheet of pasta about a tablespoon of mince with a load of congealed cheese piled on top, which looked as though it had been heated up in the microwave, as it wasnt brown or bubbling and looked incredibly anaemic. With this we also got a salad, which consisted of a couple of slices of cucumbers, a tomato, a bit of coleslaw, a slither of red onion and one lettuce leaf! (No dressing) Very disappointing.
I ordered the local ham with an egg and instead of the chips I opted for vegetables. I was presented with 2 slices of ham (which was actually quite tasty) a cold fried egg, and vegetables, consisting of a tiny amount of carrots, 2 florets of broccoli and 1 floret of cauliflower. The vegetables were cold and were soo over cooked that they were falling off my fork when I was picking them up.
Our meal for 2 of us cost us 30 pounds, a waste of money.
All the food is apparently local hmmmm, not a good advert for buying locally!
They serve better food at my works canteen! DO NOT eat here, you have been warned.
