The Garrison Wine and Tapas Bar, Castletown
I took a group of friends to the Garrison for lunch and was embarressd at the dire level of service that was givn to us. We arrived to a rude waitress eating scraps from a pile of plates she had just cleared and asked if we could have a table for lunch to which she replied that she would have to check if the chef wanted to serve us as he was working a 14 hour day and might not want to cook anything (so the point of him being there was...). He said he would only serve pre prepared meals which included meatballs and beef strips which he could microwave!! None the less we took a seat, ordered drinks and browsed the limited items that could be re heated for us. When a waiter came to take our order he informed us that the chef had changed his mind and would now only serve side dishes ie chips!! He even said he couldn't do us a salad as it took too much preparation!! We decided in the end, as no appology or help had been given, that we would eat else where. As we were leaving I noticed a large note behind the bar saying "watch large tables!!" which made us feel even less welcome than we already did. All in all I can safely say this was one of the worst experiences I have had at a reataurant which is a shame because the garrison used to be well recommended on the island. We found the staff rude and unhelpfull, as if they didn't want our custom, and I was embarressed to have taken friends there.

The Creek Inn, Peel
I visited the Creek, my old local, last week expecting the fantastic food, beer and service I knew and loved but was alas dissapointed. It was not a bad experience but neither was it great, the waiting staff had less charm and intelligence than the kippers. I hear Robert is now at the Victoria Tavern though and wish him well.
