The Teddington Arms, Teddington
Not easy to find a decent pub in Teddington -- so this is probably about as good as it gets. A decent selection of beers -- including real ales and the better brands of lager on draught. Fairly spacious with inoffensive decor. Did not try the food so cannot enter the furious debate raging across these pages. The cheery barmaid is a Chelsea supporter -- always a bonus in my book!

Good range of Youngs beer (e.g. the seasonal Winter Warmer) and decent variety of quality lagers on draught. Currently little known (although this will change as Imperial Wharf develops) -- making it a good bet for a drink by the river if you're in SW6. Only downside -- pricey (although that's understandable given the mix of yuppies, City workers and assorted Trustifarians that live in the development on its doorstep!)

The Pope's Grotto, Twickenham
Sadly lacking in character and atmosphere -- somewhat ironic considering the literary heritage in the immediate vicinity. Imagine a two-star Travelodge from Redditch transported through some portal in the space-time continuum and dropped unceremoniously in Twickenham and you'll have a fair idea of the atmosphere here. More of a hotel than a pub -- the hotel prospering from corporate events and rugby union matchdays at Twickers. On the plus side, the Youngs beers are well kept and you can usually get a seat (on a comfy sofa).
