The Golden Lion, Luddesdowne

Have been to the Golden Lion twice recently. What a transformation. The place has really been smartened up and you get a warm welcome. Enjoyed Adnams Broadside and St Austells Tribute ale. Well priced pub grub too. The garden is excellent. New owners I gather. Will be back soon.

The Black Horse, Amberley

I read the reviews on here before stopping for lunch at the Black Horse today. I'm glad we decided to ignore the odd negative comment. We received a warm welcome. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was good quality and not overpriced (thank goodness it's not a ghastly gastropub). Both the Harvey's bitter and Greene King IPA were in excellent condition. The interior is great but we sat in the attractive beer garden. Add all that to the great location and we'd definitely recommend the place.
