Martyr's Inn, Tolpuddle
An excellent pub, if ever there was a deserving 10/10 then here it is. The welcome was warm, friendly and welcoming, the beer from Hall & Woodhouse excellent, and the menu superb. We both had steak, the menu just lists local Aberdeen Angus Steak, and the waiting staff make the recommendation depending on what they have in the kitchen and how you like it cooked, I ordered a rare rump, and my wife a well done rib-eye, we were offered the option of a sauce, when I asked what they had, I was told that chef could do what ever I wanted, I had a peppercorn, and amazingly no extra charge. While we were waiting for our meal, we had a complimentary salad bowl to while away a few minutes, and when main course arrived - fantastic.
Prices are higher than some 'Pub Companies' but they don't offer this type of quality. There was a flyer on the table explaining we could join there 'friends' scheme to get 15% off and free access to a local stately home, we did not do it as we are still house hunting, but we liked the pub, and the village, so will be back - maybe for good.
