The Cadland Inn, Chilwell
"Five years ago, this pub was one of best in area. Really high standards with its cleanliness, good choice of quality beers and the staff were always pleased to serve you. What went wrong I am asking myself, I cannot believe how low the standards have now become. Start by walking through the front doors, the two large artificial trees in tubs are now the biggest ash trays I have ever seen in my life. When you get to the bar do not lean on it, as your arms will now be soaking in beer because the bar does not get wiped until closing time, really annoying when you have that new crisp white long sleeved shirt on. The plinths where the tills are located have mould growing on them. did point this out the staff once, but it did not bother them. With the first impressions now out the way, my review based on my recent experiences as a customer really go down hill. On constantly complaining about the quality of the flat beer, I have been offered some really quality explanations from both staff and management. One explained to me on one occasion, was that the beer comes out the same pump as it normally does, so there was nothing wrong with it. On another occasion the staff asked me to drink something else as the beer would still come out flat, as other customers have complained about it. Three weeks on, its still the same and the customers continue to complain. Nothing though, could of prepared me for my favourite explanation, when the staff member said to me, " I am not surprised our beer is crap, you should see the state of our glass wash machine". Food wise, I could not say how good or bad this is. My reasons for this is I would not eat in here after the experience I had when I overheard a conversation with the chef, who was in the pub as a customer and another customer who was complaining about the service standards. After the irate customer left, the Chef went on to announce at the top of his voice,"If he ever comes in here for a meal again, I will spit in it". In my above experiences, along with the rude staff, I do not feel I could rate this pub any lower. What a shame to what it was five years ago."
