The Gipsy Moth, Greenwich

I cant say I noticed much difference refurb wise between Christmas and being in there 2 weeks ago, but then again I had had a lot more to drink at Christmas.

The garden was a really nice atmosphere when it was hot the other week but I suffer a bit being sat in the sun and could have done with more shade for such a big garden. We ended up sitting under the tree at the back and a pigeon did a very large poo on my friends head, which although it was hilarious as it was him and not me, BEWARE.

The bar staff seem chipper and up for a laugh but I think there were a lot of elements that I preferred a few years back before it got done up in a big way.

Lovely garden!
Beers alright.
Bar staff are quite friendly but the reason I/we stopped drinking in here and have not returned for about a year, is that no matter who is running/owning it (and it seems to have changed hands a fair few times in the last few years), they have been rude, grumpy, unwelcoming, and obviously feeling they are so far above their customers that they don't have to even consider good customer service!

The Greenwich Union, Greenwich

Use to spend a fair amount of time in here but the beer made me lose far more of my life than was warranted by the amount I actually drank of it. It does bad things to my brain! That said, I only drank the raspberry as it was the only one I liked, even though I am normally an appreciator of many lagers and ales.

The atmosphere is trying to be a bit over pretentious, which is definitely apparent in the prices, especially of the food (although it is very nice).

The garden is quite pretty and nice in the summer. It doesn't get as crowded as the more central Greenwich pubs with outside space.

I found a fair proportion of the bar staff a bit aloof and the landlord a bit sarcastic and patronising at times (although that may have just been me).

Its not a bad pub, just not really my kinda place.
Seems to go down well with some I know though.
