The Arden Arms, Stockport

I've visited this pub twice in the last few weeks. The first visit was on a week day, where we enjoyed a superb, if pricey, lunch. The staff were very organised and attentive. The pub had a warm friendly feel to it, and the guy who I assumed was the Manager was exceptionally welcoming.
The second visit was on a Friday evening. What a contrast. The noise was overwhelming, mostly as a result of the music being far too loud and people then having to shout over it. Some of the customers seemed unable to communicate without using foul language at the top of their voices. After a single pint we decided to leave for somewhere more civilised, which unfortunately meant we had to venture further than Stockport town centre.
I would recommend this pub as a lunchtime venue, but certainly not for its evening offerings.
