1. Yes I am a huge fan.
2. Local01 described the man on the door as a thug, which is my experience he isn't. Other than that, he (Local01) does not describe much at all.
3. The job description to "forcibly eject Intelopers and squash any trouble that might be brewing by being Intimidating" might well apply to bouncers - I have not seen any of those qualities in this case.

Local01, you paint a very distorted picture. Firstly, the gentleman on the door is not a thug, he is a decent chap and a regular. He refused me entry for the same reason as you last year, as I was not aware of the ticketing process and politely turned me away. Unfortunately, The Hope has become a victim of it's own success and due to the number of people who go there, I believe they introduced the ticketing for Christmas Eve (which does not cost anything, by the way) so that the regulars could get in. This strikes me as a sensible and responsible measure to keep numbers manageable, particulary with the building work going on.

To say it has gone bad and comparing it to a chain pub is clearly ridiculous and no doubt springs from your angst at being denied entry - I'm sure The Hope would be pleased to hear from you if you have better ideas on crowd control. And, for the record, I do not work for the Hope, neither do I have any stake in the pub - I am merely a satisfied customer.
