The Prince of Wales, Shere

This pub has now been renamed The William Bray - I think there is a local connection somewhere. Anyway, we stopped off for lunch last Sunday and were not disappointed. The pub has been refurbished to a very high standard and there was a wonderful picture of James Hunt in the restaurant. I had brill and my girlfriend had roast lamb and we were not disappointed. Excellent quality and I am prepared to pay a little more for quality. As an aside, I would like to say that my girlfriend visited the ladies toilets whilst we were there which she said were of hotel standard and sparkling clean (she has been known to run a finger along the top of doors to check for dust!!). A lovely experience and we will certainly be returning.

Alfold Barn, Alfold

Cracking pub, if you want to eat. Not sure if it is really a drinkers' pub. However, my friend and I have been three times now for Sunday lunch (you have to book) and the food has been fantastic - outstanding! The staff are friendly and very attentive and if you want seconds of veg or roast tatties with your roast, no problem.
