The Battle Inn, Reading

Dreadful pub, less in need of the attentions of an interior decorator than an arsonist. I can't see how this pub can be redeemed, it's on the wrong site, the building is delapidated, the regulars are barely human and the quality of service and product leave vest amounts of improvement to even be called poor.

It's been on sale for the last two years and i can't see anyone being daft enough to take it on as a going concern. One for the pub "X" list, knock it down.

The Allied Arms, Reading

Looks scary from the outside, isn't. get through the door and now we are drinking with gas as they say. Or did i dream that? Anyway,. good old pub, jovial bar staff, beer garden with heaters for our sunny climate and decetn beer, try it you might like it.

The Granby, Reading

Call me stupid, many do, but i didn't notice that this was a lesbian/gay pub until my third visit. No "sherlock holmes award for observation" there for me then. Not that it matters, during the day it's a quiet, well managed bar with decent beer. I can't comment for the evening seen as I suspect i'm not their core target auidience. Well worth a visit anyway, gay, straight or any other variation. Vive la difference.
