The Conquering Hero, Upper Norwood

Been here a few times recently. Good bitter - Courage and Deuchars well kept. Decent music and landlord has come round twice with free snacks when we've been there. Pleasant neighbourhood local - becoming all too rare these days.

The Charles Lamb, Angel, Islington

Had a good lunch here on Saturday. Interesting food well-served and good beer. Burcombe bitter was good and another lighter hoppier bitter possibly from the same brewery was even better. One of the proprietors sat on the next table peeling vegetables for a function in the evening as the kitchen was busy and was very pleasant and interesting to chat to. Service was pleasant and the barman overheard us discussing one of the choices on the menu and warned us there were only two portions left. The pub dog is a real character!

Definitely a pub I'd go back to.
