The Railway Inn, Whithorn

This is an excellent pub for the "man in the street". A working mans pub with a friendly clientelle, you will always get somebdy playing darts and also dominos. There is a Telly in the public bar which is always on for horse racing on a saturday, and the pub takes phone bets for the local bookie

Steam Packet Inn, Isle of Whithorn

This is my local and I can only agree with Stephen's comments, whether you visit by land or sea it is well worth a visit. The Packet has two dining rooms, one smoking and one non smoking, and the food really is special. Last year won the coveted award for "pub food of the year" for the whole of Scotland. It is advisable to pre-book a table if you wish to dine in one of the restaurants as the reputation makes it a busy place. All beers are maintained in tip top condition (especially the tenants lager as Alastair the manager is a connoisseur)!
