The Captain Kidd, Wapping

There is NOTHING wrong with this pub per se - I've been going there every week for three years now. It's a Sam Smiths. It's on the Thames. What more could you want? The beer, wine and spirits as any Sam Smiths (my other favourite is Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese) are all well looked after. BUT! (And sometimes, there's always a BUT isn't there?) The new three-week old manager IS brutal - little imbibing himself with the chilled-out attitude that the place is famous for. He's a bit of a skinhead, sits there with his skinhead mates and tells you who's boss - whether you want to hear it or not! Great place, but god forbid you should be there five minutes before closing time.

Just to re-iterate; NOTHING wrong with the pub at all - great staff, who'll help you anyway they can, fantastic, cheerful, lovely place to be - just don't be there towards closing time, it's not pretty. The man needs to realise that he's not just shuffling paper but managing people.
