A great and characterful pub, normally selling two well-kept real ales (London Pride and GK IPA or similar). Always friendly and worth a visit just to look at the historic features of this place.

Great pub serving consistently good - but expensive - Fullers range of beers plus a few Belgian and European ones. Beautiful old building inside and out. Attractive bar staff possibly could be friendlier. Also great rocking jukebox, very loud in the evenings. Only downside is you need to see an independent financial advisor if you get a big round in...........

Visited this pub on Boxing Day 2008 with my family. Ordered a pint of Nethergate IPA, which tasted cidery and was swirling with sediment. On politely asking for a replacement, I was told that it was "supposed to look that way". I told the barman (stout, glasses, moustache, possibly the licensee) that I was a CAMRA member, and knew that no real ale should contain that much sediment. He replied "you lot look at the beer instead of tasting it, go somewhere else". I have not been so badly treated in a pub for years, will never return, and will campaign for its removal from the Good Beer Guide. Absolutely deplorable customer service. If you want a proper pub experience, go to the nearby Mole Trap.
