The Black Horse, Climping
Visited this pub on the day of the Royal Wedding - was a bit concerned by some of the reviews on here but as the last one was over a year ago, decided to give it a go.
Was given a very warm welcome by the staff who were very friendly. Drinks unlike what another reviewer said, are not overpriced and comparable to other pubs, roughly a tenner for 3 drinks. Good selection well served.
Food - one word fantastic. If you want boil in the bag stuff a la Wetherspoons, this place isn't for you. Food does take a while to arrive however this is because it's freshly cooked from scratch. Our party started with a Prawn Cocktail, sublime Chicken Livers, and a delicious ham parcels stuffed with cheese. Mains were Pork Belly to die for, a brilliant lobster, incredibly fresh, and substituting the salad for new potatoes was not a problem at all, and the most succulent steak I have tasted outside London. It was roughly 20 per head for the food, so not cheap, but the quality made this not an issue.
Noticed they are also doing 2 meals plus wine for 20 during the week, which if it's as good as ours is a bargain
Great to see, if the other reviews are to be believed that the pub has got it's act together- we really enjoyed it and will be returning
