The Huntsman and Hounds, Althorne

I discovered the Huntsman and Hounds in Althorne some years ago now and find this pub to be a very relaxing retreat. I try to get down when I can. I would certainly recommend it to anybody. Over the years I have introduced my family and friends and they have always been impressed. The pub is a bit out of the way, but from the moment you pull into the car park you are presented with a beautiful thatched building surrounded by fields. The pub gardens are immaculate and there are chickens and ducks in easy view. I found it reminiscent of the 'Darling Buds of May' program ! The beers are always good. Although I only drink Lager, they have a wide and variable selection of real ales which change from week to week.
The food is cooked on order but there is never a prolonged wait for service. The portions are substantial and can vary from Sunday Roast, Baguettes or the more exotic Mussels. The staff also go out of their way to adjust any set menu to the clients particular requirement.. Please give it a try.. I see previous review postings go back to over 5 years ago and I think they should be removed, for the more recent clientele to be encouraged to give their opinions of how the Huntsman and Hounds of 2015 really is.now .... .... .
