The Lion Hotel, Farningham

In response to the ignorant comment posted by 'Ebels' on 1st September, I think the comment posted by 'Jackie01' was completely justified. If the pub had been run properly, the staff should have made provisions for the size of party attending.......otherwise they should not have taken the booking in the first place. The Lion is clearly suffering if you look at the other comment too...I would have been tempted to walk out and not pay the bill if a party I went there for had been ruined and the staff didnt seem to care!!!

The New Cross Turnpike, Welling

Nice pub, with cheap, halfway decent food. Themed evenings such as 'Curry Thursday'. Not tried the beer, but my other half hasn't complained about the Strongbow. My only complaint would be that they tend to leave dirty plates on tables and sometimes they can be sticky afterwards.....not the end of the world though I guess!

The Lion Hotel, Farningham

I went to the Lion this afternoon for lunch with my other half. Its the third time I have been, but the first time I have eaten there. While it is in a beautiful location and the food that we had was good, there is a major fault to this pub....the service. The waitress who delivered our food was very pleasant, but the length of time it took to be served was quite frustrating. I was the ONLY person at the bar and the pub on the whole looked to be quiet, yet it took 5 minutes before I was acknowledged by a member of staff. Although they did apologise for the wait, this was also the main fault that I had noticed on the past two times I have visited. The first was a couple of years ago. It was extremely busy as it was such a nice day, so I overlooked that visit and put it down to the unexpected weather. The second visit was a few weeks ago. It was slightly busier than today, but I still didnt expect the same problem with service as it wasnt exactly heaving. Maybe the management should employ more staff??? Do they realise that they are losing custom because of this problem??? Although I would go back to The Lion pub because of its location, I would not take my family here for an occasion of any sort as I dont feel that they could provide an completely enjoyable experience. Its such a shame as The Lion could be such a little 'gold mine' if only a little more effort was made. I work part time in a pub at the weekend and if I made a customer wait as long as they do, I would most likely have been sacked by now!!!
