The Goat, Upper Halliford

Booked a table for 9 for my mothers special birthday. We arrived to be told that our table had already been given to another party with the same surname.
We were seated and then we received our starters the prawn cocktail had grit in it and the goats cheese tarts were cold. Another hour later our main meals came out the vegetables were cold and the mash potatoes were cold and the lamb shanks were tasteless and barely warm. The carvery had a cook which was wearing a dirty overall and proceeded to carve the meat which the gammon was brown at one end the broccolli was yellow and the roast potatoes were burnt. One of the burgers meals was off and the cook Manager was called and we were told that it was not off as he had taken it out of the packet fresh today. Then stood there with attitude saying that he food was not cold and did not apologise. The Area Manager has called and said this is normal practice for the meals to be probed before they come out of the kitchen before they are served. Never heard such nonsense in all my life my husband has worked in kitchens for 20 years and this is not what happens in a professional kitchen. Would never go to this establishment again.
