White Hart Inn, Stockbridge

Having looked at this pub's website, which states they serve breakfast, we stopped at around 8.00 am on the way to a days fishing.

On walking in and asking for a table we were told they only provide breakfast if you book in advance. No 'hello', no 'sorry' just a grumpy landlady who looked outraged that we had the cheek to try and use her pub.
On the way out, we stood in the in the doorway discussing where to try next and were told " Can you please leave and close the the door behind you".

I guess if you have a pub in Stockbridge people flock to your door and there is no need to be civil, nor do you need £50 worth of breakfast orders to start the day.

Queens Arms, Basingstoke

Needed a pub for a beer and food, before a show in Basingstoke. This pub is perfect: excellent selection of well kept beers and four real ales. I had a burger, I know that doesn't sound very interesting but it was home made and very tasty with mushrooms and blue cheese. Other meals also looked great.
This pub is small and not posh, but the locals are friendly and the staff attentive, courteous and fast.

Good luck to them, I will plan more trips to the Anvil based around my visit.
