The Plough, Walthamstow

I was surprised to read the negative comments posted about the Plough Inn. It is a fair comment to say that the pub is undergoing changes but these are all to the good. The last few months have seen the excellent Walthamstow Folk Club take up residence of a Sunday night and this, apart from attracting some of the most respected artists in the UK (Dick Gaughan was the guest last Sunday and it doesnt get much better than that)but has also attracted a a very decent crowd - many of whom seem set to become regulars. Over and beyond this a glance at the 'what's on' screen of their website for the first quarter of 2007 reveals a series of concerts that would rival any musical venue of similar size in the UK. Whilst I agree that the standard of entertainment presented at the Plough had fallen over the last year or so it is clear that some real energy and intelligent planning has been introduced and the future, if the current website is anything to go by, is looking really bright. It's about time that the east End had a real music venue and I think the Plough Inn deserves a geat deal of credit for having the courage to take up this challenge. It has my vote... Oh and the real ale is exceallent....
