Rose Inn, Great Wakering

Tried the Rose Inn because I had heard such good things about the food so I visited on August bank holiday 2005. Although the beer garden looked busy it was fairly empty inside so we sat at table nuber 13 (Should of known better really!!!)went to the bar and had to wait an age whilst a couple decided what they were going to eat. Payed for my meal and drinks at 16.02.

16.20 Starter arrives. Breaded mushrooms that were barely warm. Obviously the packet variety and deep fried.

17.00 Chicken salad arrives. Uninspiring, but to be fair, nicely presented and the vinegarerte was tasty. BUT one hour to prepare a salad

18.00 Strawberries and cream arrive, 5 strawberries cut in half with three squirts of UHT cream on a HOT soup bowl.

Very slow service, staff seemed uninterested. I would definately not go there again.
