The Earl of Spencer, Southfields

It is not bad, but really should be much better - it is a bit up it's own ar*e.

The food is overpriced, but it is better than a lot of pub food.

The bloke that seems to run it has a very supercilious attitude, and sometimes the staff are a bit difficult to attract - there seems to be a high-turnover of people employed behind the bar.

They do have a well-kept, and interesting selection of ales.

The Old Sergeant, Wandsworth

It's the nearest pub to where I live, and before the revamp it was going downhill - the Youngs was often really bad - bad enough to make you ill.

Beer seems much better now, but the burger that I had was very poor - almost like water in consistency.

The staff were pretty good and helpful though, and the people in there seemed a friendly enough crowd.

The Duke of Sussex, Waterloo

I enjoyed myself there last night, but I have my doubts about the landlord. For �7-worth of drinks he 'mistook' my �20 for �10, and although he readily opened his till and handed over the missing �10 note when I challenged him - I really got the feeling that he was trying it on.

Who knows if he was, why would he? but his overall attitude certainly put the thought in my mind...
