The J P Joule, Sale

I used to live near this place when it was a Wetherspoons, and back then, cheap drinks were one of my main priorities.

I put up with its bad points, because it's got to be one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) place in Sale.

I hadn't been in there for a while, but have started going in again recently. Drinks still very cheap, but I don't expect, or get, anything else from the place.

I haven't personally witnessed any trouble, but it's the kind of place that attracts it. I'm usually out and somewhere else by the time people are getting rowdy.

The Flying Horse, Taunton

Used to be called The Dolphin. Never went in then, and have only been there once in its present form.

Perhaps a little fair to judge a place on one visit, especially when that visit was Christmas day, and I was eating lunch there.

The food on that occasion wasn't great at all, and I was a little disappointed. Having said that, it might normally be ok.

The staff were ok though.
