Sun Inn, Bassenthwaite

This pub could be amazing but unfortunately the people who run it seem to be missing the polite gene. The air they give off is that having customers in the pub is a massive irritation to them, don't expect anything in the way of service.
The food is ok but but overpriced for what it is.
When I went I was staying in a cottage opposite, which came with the instructions to park out the back. This happened to be the pubs PRIVATE car park, but it was reasonable to assume that there was some kind of arrangement with the owners for people staying in the cottage. This is not the case, as we found out when we had a run in with the landlady who was very rude. We moved the car from then on as it really made no difference (the space was still in the car park , just right outside the cottage which meant that the entrance to the car park was slightly blocked)We didn't point out to the Landlady that we had spent well over �100 that night in the pub so we could have been legitimately parked there as patrons. After her rudeness we just didn't bother to go back. If your in the area go to the Castle Inn just down the road. It doesn't have the same aesthetic qualities but the food is better and the bar staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.
