The Globe, Leicester

I was in Leicester with my teenage son last week, the main reason being an art exhibition at Nottingham Castle, and when I insisted on visiting a "real" English pub my sister and brother-in-law promptly took me to "The Globe". It was great: the centric location, the atmosphere, the interiors, the crowd, the staff - and the lovely landlord, who put up with this nutty Swedish-Mexican woman (myself) who insisted on asking for kidney pie or pork pie, because that's what I've seen them eat in British tv series (yes,
laugh by all means). Eventually he convinced me that it wasn't the season for pork pies (I think) but that everything on the menu was "pub grub" and that I should try his chicken pie with peas-something-or-another, and it was delicious! He even took the time to fill me in on the history of the place and to show me old photographs on the walls. Maybe he sensed that I was a "History freak"... A perfect pub and a perfect gentleman! And since I don't have anything to compare it with I'll just give it a full score of 10.
Oh, but from reading other comments I get the impression I missed something by not visiting the upper floor. Next time for sure...
