The Crown, Borough

I first visited this pub yesterday. The new manager is trying, successfully, to create a clean, pleasant area for drinking and chatting – not noisy.
There are 3 draught beers on and, I noticed 3 beers from the Czech Budvar brewery. The ales were all in top condition (much better than in the nearby Charles Dickens, which we visited next).
We didn’t eat, but the menu, and the wine list, looked interesting,
I’d suggest checking this place out.

The Mulberry Tree, Ipswich

Myself and a chum were recently in Ipswich for the Beer Festival, and had a bit of time to 'kill' as we couldn't get in til 5pm.
We went to The Beer House on spec, as it's not in the current Camra guide. Couldn't have been more impressed; 4 interesting real beers available (including a 9.7%er!), all of which the landlord gave us tasters of, without us having to ask - we obviously looked like Beer Hunters. Both the landlord and one of his regulars at the bar were very friendly and informative about the pub, and the beer scene in Ipswich, which seems to be on the up and up, having just been in the Fat Cat and the Dove Street Inn, both of which were fine too.
There's also live music every night of varying varieties; Mrs Landlord was setting up the PA as we were leaving.
Top pub, top beer, top people.
