The Royal George, Euston

Only a pub for passing through. Cheap food but this is reflected in the quality! If your a stranger you tend not to get preference when waiting to be served! Perhaps if I said "wots gaain on?" more often they might take more notice!? When you come out of Euston Station its ideally situated across the busy road, watch out for the "spare 1 for a cup of tea 'guv" brigade as you make your way there.

Nice big TV screen which was showing the golf last time I was in. Staff a little off, but I put this down to the fact i was not local. A decent pint of Kronenburg, nevertheless.

The Green Man, Great Portland Street

What have they done to this place? The jukebox has gone, the bar has moved and turned 45 degrees and the food has really gone down the pan! When we visited the toilets were out of order so there was this mass queue for the disabled toilet next to the "new" bar. This is the pub where I first sampled Kronenburg Blanc. Since returning north I have yet to find this drink available anywhere. I think it only tasted good because of the six pints of Stella which I had downed at an earlier location! In 1994 I would have put this pub in my top 20. Now it doesnt even qualify! Bloody chains ruining good old fashioned boozers. They should have left well alone. Still its a short crawl back to the tube I suppose (a 3 second walk!)

The Penny Bank, Lancaster

A good mixture of characters from uni students to old men in a corner putting the world to rights! A wonderful selection of British & Foreign draught lagers/beers and a full choice of bottles. Food is basic but ample for the price. Good location in the heart of Lancaster's pedestrianised street. Haven't been here for a while, must return soon, one of my personal favourites. 8/10
