The Station Bar, Hove

Being opposite Hove Station, this is ideal for a pint on the way home. Unless, of course, you live in Rochdale. Was once a proper boozer, but now it's more of a pub-bar that specialises in made-to-order pizzas that are cooked in an open oven. Ive never had one, but they look tasty enough.

Once the sort of pub that gives pubs a bad name � being cheerless and unwelcoming (and that was just the bar staff) � this has now been transformed into a bright, attractive bar with friendly staff. Although I prefer boozers to bars, I�d go there again, despite the poncey name.

Sir Charles Napier, Brighton

Indeed, a very attractive neighbourhood pub. The only trouble is you've got to have lived in the neighbourhood for 20 years before anyone in there talks to you.
