Scarlett Arms, Walliswood

Charming, unspoilt country pub. Friendly, helpful staff. We had the weekday lunchtime and early evening 2 courses for �7 offer and it was excellent value. We started with smoked salmon salad and vegetable soup followed by beef and onion pie (clearly homemade) and mash and hake with new pots, baby tomatos and baby spinach. All very good. It has been under the current management for about 2 years and they deserve every success. We will go back soon.

The Prince's Head, Richmond

Good traditional local, unspoilt by recent minor refurbishment. Picturesque setting overlooking Richmond Green. At least if you are a smoker you have something attractive to look at while you freeze. Well kept Fullers beers and good, surprisingly imaginative food.
Only negative is the conspicuously unfriendly South African barmaid who appears to be engaged in some sort of challenge to serve you without speaking unless absolutely unavoidable. Why they continue to employ her I cannot imagine. Does she have in her possession compromising photographs of the main shareholder of Fullers?
