The Silver Cross, Whitehall

I was in the Silver Cross over the weekend. I must say after reading the reviews I was not expecting much. However I was pleasently surprised the pub was something like a Tardis when We walked in we thought it was a small place but in reality it is huge with 2 floors. The pub was packed we noticed right away that the majority of the clientale were tourists. We ordered at the bar and were told it was a 45 minute wait on our food. I thought that seemed excessive for a Fish and Chips and Roast Dinner however after observing the amount of food that was goin out I thought it was reasonable. Our drinks were cold and were served by a lovely bar mistress who though was very busy but still managed a smile and a little banter. All beers and Ales were avaliable. The toilets were downstairs and were in good condition. Our food when it arrived was of a good standard and was hot and tasty. Overall a good experience the place must have had a refurb as the pub looked quite new and the outside differs from the picture posted on this site. I definately return but probably at a quieter time.
