Queens Hotel, Sowerby Bridge

Further to my last comment the pub has changed hands and is on the up again. Under private ownership so it should be protected from the hassles of large pubcos. New licensees Gary and Katy are trying hard with a focus on live bands. Just had their 1st charity weekend 'fest' with 18 bands in 2 days! 3 hand pulled beers in good nick - Taylor's and Moorhouses currently.

The West Riding Refreshment Rooms, Dewsbury

Excellent real ale pub on Dewsbury staion platform. Berr is always excellent for quality and choice- same ownership as Anglo Dutch Brewery so often some of their beer present. Food is superb value. Also now own the Cellar Bar opposite Batley staion (3 minutes on the train). Can build this into a superb train pub crawl; Leeds, Batley, Dewsbury, Hudddersfield, Slaithwaite, Marsden, Stalybridge (hic), what a good do!!

Big Six, Halifax

Superb little back street local made by knocking together several back to back cottages. Approaching from King Cross towrds the old Infirmary if you look to the left you can see the faint outline of a big '6' on the gable end of the terrace. Owned by Punch but on a 'free of tie' lease so a good selection of real ales in good condition. A classic little time capsule - worth seeking out.
