The Birkey Hotel, Liverpool

Oh well despite my "Recent" comments the Birkey has been refurbished (Re-Opened on 5th Mrach) and still retains all its character. Least now the gents dont have to go "outside" in order to use the gents! Still 2 sides, with pool table and quiz machine on 1 (and the quality jukebox)and 2 big screen TV's on the other. Very friendly staff too

ok, finally went there after the refurbishment. Yes as expected it has lost abit of its old charm and it now feels like a "forced country pub" that is that everything is new and far to clean for my liking. But at the same time its still very relaxing and pleasent and I will be goign back there again.The staff were superb. Food is also very nice and they wernt lying when they said "A whale of a fish" ... it was huge and reasonably priced, as for the drinks they are not too bad either.. Carlsberg Export sets you back �2.50 with Stella from what i recall being 5p more. Good pub try it.

The Birkey Hotel, Liverpool

A nice pub with lots of character, has yet to be refurbished (thank god, and dont think there are any plans too). Divided into 2 sides, 1 side with ample seating and a big screen tv, packed with locals of all ages, good place to have a drink at the end of a stressful day. The other side has a pool table and a quiz machine/ fruit machine. Also possibly the best jukebox ever too! Decent pint at a reasonable price with a reasonable selection! Think they have a few "real ales" too.
