The Harp, Covent Garden

The bar was crowded and rather smokey on Saturday evening, so I tried upstairs for the first time. What a super room - surprisingly stylish, with an interesting view down Adelaide Street - and no problems having my sausage sandwich served there. The Harvey's Bitter was excellent, building up a hoppy fragrance; two guys in the bar were also well pleased with their pints of Crop Circle.

Harts Boatyard, Surbiton

After a few weeks away, I was surprised to find this pub closed for major works. Anyone know when it might be opening again?

Hopefully in time for the lighter nights when the riverside ambience, watching the sun set over Hampton Court Park, makes up for occasional failings in beer (real ales) quality or stocks!

Things have been better since they became a Cask Marque pub, but not consistently so.

The Old Kings Head, Hampton Wick

I was in here on Monday evening and there were only two of us, plus the barman, for an hour or more.

What a shame, because the Timothy Taylor's was excellent, and the place feels very welcoming apart from all the empty space!

The owner must have invested quite a bit to bring it up to this standard, so come on folks - let's give him a bit more support, or I fear the pub will be out of action again.
