The Catherine Wheel, Goring

Good for you Michael. I've been a regular diner in the Catherine Wheel for months now. It has been consistently excellent food and the staff are very good by and large. The only trouble I've ever had has been with other customers.... Producing a product of this quality quite entitles you to tell the odd moaner to go and shove it. Keep up the good work!

Miller of Mansfield, Goring

What an awful experience we just had in the Miller. Both the myopic misery scowling at us from behind recption and the monosyllabic, monobrow barman made it perfectly clear that we were an inconvenience to them. Daring to order food within half an hour of the kitchen closing caused uproar and when it came it was simply awful. My steak (med/rare) was burnt beyond redemption and the chips (f.y.i. guys - its not a pont neuf of potato if you only give five chips) shattered at the touch of a fork. The missus had one bite of her fish and left it at that. Terrible from start to finish - won't be back.
