Visited a couple of months back, and don't recognise the pub from "Dennis'" comments.
I suspect you went there on an off day... the off day being yours!
In brief, great atmosphere, good beer, great food, great service.
Sure you went to the right pub?
Oh, and if you had a problem with the accents.... not everyone speaks fluent scouse in the South....
No problems with the Gents, either.

"....allowing adults to drink from a glass in the very nice garden area..." sadly the "responsible adult" species, while still around, seems to be on the way to extinction. So when the choice is between a grumpy "adult" and a kid with broken glass in his feet, I will side with Jules every time.
