Just popped in here on Sunday on the offchance - it looked very busy with lots of diners and as the Stephan Langton had just stopped serving we thought we'd give it a try.
The bar staff were friendly and helpful (shame about the fellow in charge who didn't make eye contact with a single person he spoke to), ie when they didn't have any roast potatoes left for the lamb roasts we ordered they sorted it out pretty sharpish. Unfortunately it went downhill from there, we waited 50 minutes for our food, which isn't suprising considering my girlfriend's 12 burger (which was missing the chorizo and had the mustard mayo we asked them to leave out) was rediculously overcooked... Oddly enough though the chips were still partly frozen and the wafer cheese wasn't melted. I have to say my pizza was lovely but at 9 you expect that nowadays.
Very nice atmosphere and if I lived locally I'd land up in there for a drink or two every once in a while but I'd advise avoiding the burger and arriving early if you want to eat on the same day.

The Parrot Inn, Forest Green
I see that a while ago that this place was getting some bad reviews. Not sure if they've retrained or hired new staff, but I've been there three times in the last couple of months but it all sounds a far cry from what I've experienced. The thing about the dangerous locals guarding the bar seems to be a myth; every member of staff we've encountered are chirpy as you like and very helpful (not sure if they really know their wines but every suggestion thus far has been a hit with with the lady); and the food is outstanding. Considering it is always heaving and we've only just managed to nab a table on each of our visits the dinners have arrived quickly and perfectly cooked. Lamb roast has been the winner so far. I've been sticking to lager which is something like four quid for a Becks, which coming from West London seems like a normal price to me. We thought about having our wedding reception at KFC but have opted to have it at the Parrot now.
