Blue Anchor, Crowborough

This pub has been a trusted place of socialising for myself and others for quite sometime now. For a while we have noticed the rather rude and disrespectful manner of the two owners. Our negative opinion of them was increased this week, as we gathered in at our usual table for a birthday celebration. A cake was made for the occasion and we sang and started to cut up the cake. However, from the bar, the owner then blurted "Dont eat that in here. you did'nt by it here. you didnt pay for it here. So dont eat it." in an EXTREMELY harsh tone. A friend then tried to reason with him and awnsered "does it make any difference that its our friends birthday cake?" and in reply to this, the owner turned round with a dirty look and said "no. suprisingly... no." Of course, we were all stunned silent. We could not believe how we were treated and will NOT be going back there.
The next day, a member of the group rang the pub to complain about the incident. Only to be awnsered with a violent man shouting down the phone at her. I do not think this kind of behaviour is at all acceptable and would like to pass on this information to anyone thinking of going to this pub.
