The King William IV, Mickleham

We read about this pub in a guide and I have to agree that this pub serves one of the best pub sunday lunches I've had in a while. Yes - the prices are a bit more than your average pub meal but only by 2-3 and the difference in terms of quality more than makes up for it. I'm drooling now thinking about the slow-roasted shoulder of lamb I had last time. Indeed, every part of the meal was superb and we always bring guests here if we want them to enjoy a delicious pub meal in fantastic surroundings. The beer is also great - with some fantastic local beers like Shere Drop helping even further set it aside from the also-rans.

Whatever you do, do not try to go up the hill in an estate car. Trying to back down again was one of the hairiest moments in my life. Parking at the base of the hill is easy though.

The Jolly Farmer, Weybridge

This is a great pub to come too if you like your beer - with the beers being well kept and interesting. The garden is also very good for sitting out in on a nice summer's day (and is enclosed so would be good for kids). The food we had on a Sunday lunchtime wasn't great, however, being a bit over cooked. There are lots of decent places to eat nearby - so I'd come for the drinks then eat elsewhere if you don't want to be disappointed.

The service is great - with the bar staff being friendly and jovial but not overly so.

The Volunteer, Sutton Abinger

This place is NOT easy to get to, especially if you have an estate car like we do - but the effort was very much worth the white-knuckle trip. The Badger beers were very well kept and the food was good too. All the staff were very friendly and took pains to make sure that we were happy with everything. It's in a lovely location with a lot of charm and the food and drink are good at reasonable prices. We came for Sunday lunch and will definately go again (although perhaps via a more indirect route...)

The Red Lion, Chobham

We've tried lots of pubs in the area looking for a good place for sunday lunches. I have to say that this was only OK - and certainly not the best sunday lunch I've had in a pub recently. The veggies were over cooked but it is nice to have them on the side. My stuffing was straight out of the packet and it was quite dry as a result. The meat was also overcooked and drowning it in gravy isn't going to help. The roast pork also didn't have any crackling - criminal! That said, the yorkshire pudding was good and the roasties were VERY good. I've had far worse - but from the other reviews I was expecting something a lot better.

The beer was very good, however, with the London Pride tasting very fresh and seemed superbly kept. I'm happy to recommend this place for the beer but the food wasn't anything special.
