The Horse and Groom, Alresford
Poor service, we waited an age, and the the could not even remember to put a sausage on the all day breakfasts!
Everything was over cooked, and the waitress did not even know if she had brought us diet Pepsi or not!
We then had to wait 15 mins to settle the bill.
There are much better pubs in the town!

This pub may have had a coat of paint, But nothing can hide the cracks in the place! I find it amazing that new management can go in an still the place is empty, and unwelcoming (and this on Easter bank holiday weekend!)
But hey you can get fish and chips to take away now!
This should start alarm bells ringing, is it a pub or a chippie?
There are better pubs one just 1.8 miles away!

We had a great meal here, it is the last pub in the area that is any good, and this one is great!

I know the people who live near by (lower Morden lane and Cardinal Ave chavs You KNOW who your are) drink here, but this is a pit! Last time we eat the my wife has sausage and mash, only they were out of mash, so they served sausage and gravy and gave a "free" side order of chips. The chips floated in the gravy!
Chavs are the best customers here, the chav mums from the school up the road flock here once they have picked the kids up and drink untill they are smashed!
Real life shameless!

Have to say in the last few month, the food has gone down hill, and the prices have gone up! Not what is was!

It was very much like stepping onto a TV set, the service was excellent, but the food was sadly below average (As a pub chef myself I know how hard it is to get this right!). The portion was small, no where near enough veg on the plate, the cost was far to high, and the fusion of rustic game and fine dining just does not work!
Yes most good (and bad) pubs now sell local produce, but I think Mike should spend a little more time work on the menu himself, reduce the cost of a meal and get more veg on the plate. The bare bone are there for one of the best pubs in the area, but right now it is a total mis-fire. Don't belive me? The weather was nice and the lunchtime crowd was in, but very very few of them were eating!

Great food, good beer, and most important of all a friendly atmosphere! One of the best pubs in hampshire

We had dinner here one evening, we arrived at 7:30 and did not get our main course until after 9! A lot of the menu was off. The lamb shank was dry and over cooked, the mash was just sludge, the pie was falling to pieces and this was not cheap. When I asked to see the manager, a 12 year old appeared, and even he admitted that the food was awful.

The Fox, Ellisfield
We went here for lunch on 20/10/09 and wow what a diffrence the new management have made!
Gone is the warm welcome, and friendly atmoshpere (it was like eating in a morgue). You can't pay by debit or credit card (when a business wants cash only, well?). Despite the wind rain and cold, the heating was off. The naff pictures of PAGE 3 models clash with the country decore some what.
There was a sign up tell us our chef today was Dan but unless Dan is a very dishevelled looking old woman....
The menu was limited.
The food was a disgrace, and being sold at half price, and still they only had 5 customers (including us) I had the fish cakes they were over cooked and had very little fish in them. My wife had the garlic bread The bread was toasted and the butter spread on top still part frozen?????
It is sad that this was the last good quality pub in the area! If people want to run a country pub then run it. This is like a weatherspoons in the middle of nowhere
