The Biddulph Arms, Biddulph

Went for lunch today for the first time after moving into the area recently. Very unwelcoming staff and manager, took 15 minutes to get served before the neanderthal behind the bar reluctantly ambled over and we discovered later that this was the manager! Service with a grimace! I only ordered 3 roast dinners and drinks but from the look on his face you would have thought I had propositioned him for a 3 way. Spent £40 for an absolutely average lunch and a few rounds of drinks. Only there just over an hour before manager started dropping heavy hints he needed the area we were in and wanted us to leave. We had only taken that table because the largest room was taken up with a christening party upon arrival. He made loud comments to a staff member, put a dining chair in the entrance to the area we were seated and then finally 5 minutes later came to tell us the area was booked from 4pm. After checking he was in fact the manager (VERY hard to believe!), we pointed out how unwelcome and uncomfortable he had made us. His response was to shrug, grunt and walk off. He should stick to bullying his staff and the young crowd who use his pub. AVOID like the plague!!! Rudeness as standard, absolutely average ales, terrible service, inept management and as much atmosphere as you would find on Mars! If you are not one of his local crowd you will find yourself as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit!

The Black Horse, Biggin Hill

Just had licence suspended for drugs, as part of 'operation condor' . Bearing in mind how slow the police and local authority are in responding to such matters, this is obviously not an isolated incident.
See previous comment, regarding chavs and single mothers getting pi**ed in front of their kids, now add drug dealing - lovely!
It's a horrible place, avoid !

The Black Horse, Biggin Hill

I have visited this pub regularly over the last few months as it is convenient to where I live. The beer is ok but not cheap. However, as for the ambience, think of the scene in 'American Werewolf in London' with Brian Glover in full flow in the pub on the Yorkshire moors. This is definitely a locals pub and a majority of the clientele seem to be related to the landlord or his extended family. The place also seems to be full of kids running around until late, some of them seem to be related to the Landlord and an open door policy where children are encouraged/allowed to remain exists. I once walked into to find someone changing a babies nappy on a table! Their notion of family friendly pub appears to be single mothers and latest getting p**sed , whilst little Damien and friends run amok. There is also a decent chav population inside sniffing around aforementioned single mothers. They also have moody sky Tv which keeps breaking down, so removing the only saving grace. AVOID
