The Porterhouse, Covent Garden
Love the pub. Good selection of beers (especially the Germn Weissber) and always an interesting social experience.
Only problem I have with it is the generic English people who insist on going there and then complaining about everything. Fortunately all of us "braying antipodeans" generally drown them out and they can only whinge on here. Let's be thankful for small mercies.

Spent part of boxing day there (the only pub we could find open prior to midday). Good service, good beer, were happy to change the channel over to show some sport. We ended up the dar end near to the open fire which was magnificent on a cold day.
Woudl highly recommend

Had a terrible experience in terms of service there a few weeks back. The quality of service of the waiter was not greta and then guy who was looking after the restaurant could not have been ruder towards the end of the meal. Made us happy to go and spend our money somewhere else
Wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Great pub. Good food, good atmosphere and great service. What more could you ask for? Sunday roasts are always good. Only limitation is that you need to get there early-ish for whatever you are doing (including Sunday lunch) to ensure that you can get a good spot.

Miss the old Pharaoh. Was definitely more interesting and fun

The Golden Lion, Putney Bridge
Used to live across the road. Really is a local's pub, good little space out the back where they do BBQs which were child friendly.
Always good to stop in and have a pint.

Nell of Old Drury, Covent Garden
Recently had a great night out here with some mates. Bit crowded before the show starts, but good atmosphere, good beer, enjoyable experience.
They let us get a pizza delivered which was considerate, particularly considering if we hadn't eaten we would have fallen over.

As an earlier comment said "does exactly what it says on the tin". Great for watching sport - went there for the Ireland vs Australia Rugby a few weeks back and everyone had a great time and had generally had good service.
Watched a few other games there upstairs. Only big issue is that it gets REALLY smokey, beyond the point of tolerable for some reason.
Have to go agree to another comment - have a mate and his wife who will only drink with me there. None of us can remember the end of our first night out there, and none more since. Strange as we remember all the other nights out

Had a good night there watching Spanish football. Not everyone's thing I know, but had it on a TV so that you could watch and not get in the way of others doing other things.
Staff were ok but not outstanding. One time the girl was lovely, the next time up it was like she had been bitten on the arse by a dog.
Overall good place to enjoy a quiet one

Would have done better but for the absolutely outrageous priced drinks. Don't mind if they are good / strong, but the bar tender merely filled a glas with ice and showed it to the bottle - that counted as a drink.
Pity, as it lets down a pub with good vibe / ambience, music, good looking girls and a VERY cute girl who works there (with the dark hair).

Great place. We went to dinner there recently; not overpriced compared to anywhere else in Clapham. Good food in plentiful quantities. Service was very good by London standards.
For the bar itself not bad. Gets busy, but where in Clapham isn't? We had to wait 15 minutes for a table and the bar staff were excellent to deal with during that brief period.

The Pig and Butcher, Islington
Watched the Rugby there on Saturday. Reasonable choice of beers but nothing special. But a good atmosphere and not too smoky. Also was enough space for everyone to comfortably move around.
Would recommend it.
