Another successful beer festival! On the heels of the "official" 5th Selby Beer Festival held at the Sheaf in November 2005 Andy organised a festival at the end of April 2005. 11 different real ales (though perhaps with a littletoo much emphasis on golden bitters) were available at a very reasonable price, together with tasting notes, butties and excellent pork pies. Well done, Andy!

Perhaps I understood wrong. It looked open yesterday evening - lights and TV on, but was a bit Marie Celeste as the place was completely empty. No customers and no staff evident behind the bar.

As I understand it it's closed permanently, not just over Christmas. I'll check - I may end up retracting this comment!

I can't speak for the attitude of the regulars but being one I must admit I've never noticed us being particularly intimidating or rude. As for noisy, well, people might tend to make a noise in a pub.
Regarding the state of the gents' toilets the previous poster is correct - they were disgraceful. That's why the pub landlord had them completely ripped out and refurbished some months ago.
The previous anonymous poster appears to be posting rather out-of-date comments. (James left even before the bogs were refurbished, by the way, not that there's any connection!)
