The Fox, Twickenham

Since changing hands yet again, The Fox has shed its mange and is getting its bushy tail back!
Now managed by the staff White Swan's new management ejected (presumably because they didn't want to spoil their Tack-enham theme pub with bar staff who know what they're doing), the service is fast and friendly, the beer's perfect and plentiful and there's an atmosphere returning.
Once more feels like the pub I loved to drink in when I was a nipper.
Well done Lee and co!

The Plough, Norwood Green

Yes, we were on the same team. Strong stuff that 1845!

The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

I have never had a particularly bad experience in this pub. I have been told off for wearing a football shirt. It was a very old FC Barcelona t shirt -not even official kit or anything- that I cycle in (I don't even like football that much). All a bit bewildering but that's their rules and it was all handled with humour and calmness.
The beer is nothing to rave about. I've never had to take my pint back but as with so many pubs the Cask Marque sign is barely deserved. The 'please tell us what beers you'd like us to stock' sign needs to be removed or supplemented with a sign saying 'This sign is for decorational purposes only'.
The staff have always been curtious and friendly except a couple of occasions on rugby days when the staff were downright dismissive and uninterested. They weren't the usual staff (maybe St Mary's students- god help us) and didn't recognise me as a local. I had to practically beg them to disengage from their cliquey interchange and pull me my drink. Then again rugby crowds do bring out the worst in many people.
Its strongest point is its beer garden- great on a balmy day. Nice one the Thames.
Basically a sound- main criticisms would go to Punch Taverns themselves.

The White Swan, Twickenham

An 'Urban Designer' from a town planning corporation has been sniffing round the White Swan and he reeks of 'modernise or die'.

@betlyn If 'going downhill' means 'not becoming a Pizza Express' then I'll fetch my skis...

The Triple Crown Inn, Richmond

One of my favourite pubs. Perfect beer, be it regulars like London Pride or their good range of guest ales. Never had a bad pint here. Guv'nor's a wicked bloke with very good taste in music and there's always the chance of a good chat with the punters. An unspoilt gem.

Ps @ Spanish...Hombre: 'BEST STELLA IN LONDON'- What does this mean?

The Express Tavern, Kew Bridge

Like walking into the golden age where pubs were elegant but unpretentious, and served superbly kept ales to the highest calibre of pub-goers. This gem has everything going for it. HIGHLY recommended!

The Plough, Norwood Green

Brilliant pub. Unspoilt, beer in top nick, Sunday roast excellent. I was in for the quiz last night and although Fullers had messed up the delivery the staff were great about it and I ended up an 1845 hangover! Usually a very friendly diverse crowd.

The Bear, Twickenham

Initially dubious as York Street has hosted some really chavvy bars, I was pleasently surprised when I first went here years ago. It's comparitive longevity (compared with some of its predecessors) is a testament to its quality. It has a classy feel to it and a reasonable range of beers (bottled, draught and a couple of regulars on cask) and is the closest thing Twickenham has to an international beer hall. The food's pretty oily though and the cask ale needs better treatment.

The George, Twickenham

Shockingly bad pub unless you need a ride to A&E in an ambulance- there's practically always one permanently positioned outside awaiting blood soaked, brain dead lout with a face full of glass grunting incoherent football chants while his belt-skirted peroxide girlfriend staggers and squawks in the background.

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

A really good pub. It's been modernised fairly recently but done in a traditional style. Friendly staff, always a good crowd of decent people- great atmosphere.
I don't like Hall and Woodhouse beers although I can tolerate BAdger and Hopping Hare however they are rarely in particularly good condition.

The Rifleman, Twickenham

Everything a backstreet pub should be.

The Misty Moon, Twickenham

Never judge a pub by its karaoke.

The Fox, Twickenham

The Fox is getting there but if I have one more horrifically bad pint I'm going to have to say something...

The White Swan, Twickenham

The beer has always been in excellent condition, the staff are friendly without being overly pandering, the location is spectacular and the toilets are legendary! This pub has always maintained a traditional, unpretentious atmosphere despite its location. I see this is finally changing under its new management and Twickenham is set to have yet another w**ker bar. Very sad and disappointing. 300 years of history no longer matters in this place. Keep latte out of my local!!
