Usually has one real ale on, Bombadier on my last visit. Serves food, which are your average Wetherspoons-like meals. OK to sit and watch people walk past. Good deals on everyday of the week for spirits and lagers, etc.

A nice bar to sit in and chat. Has Reverand James - very well kept. Decent prices. Hosts live music during term time, which get very packed - otherwise a very quiet bar.

The Inn on the Pier, Aberystwyth
Good place for pizza... and sitting looking at the sea at 5am. Open very late (or early!) and free entry - no need for a club! Prices are pretty cheap too.

The Glengower Hotel, Aberystwyth
Great pub to sit in and watch the sea. Couple of beers on, nice atmosphere, usually quite quiet unless there's a big game on or its quiz night. Closes quite early.

Great little pub with a good atmosphere.
Brilliant jukebox, two tvs usually showing different sports - but in a way that doesn't take away from the atmosphere.
The real ale is kept very well, however it can be a bit hit and miss whether it is on or not. However nine times out of ten you can be sure they'll have it on at the weekend.
Nice comfy seats and interiors - and probably the cleanest toilets in Aberystwyth!

The Cambrian Hotel, Aberystwyth
Lovely pub from the outside, bar on the inside. No real ale.
Popular with the students for the cocktails, usually pretty packed. Fairly pleasant, clean pub with pleasant staff.

The Coopers Hotel (Y Cwps), Aberystwyth
This pub has obviously changed dramatically from when these other reviews were posted.
This pub is friendly and has a great atmosphere. It attracts many Welsh speakers and Irish speakers, but I've only ever found them to be pleasant.
The beer is very good, I always stick to the Felinfoel Double Dragon. There is one other beer I believe.
Its worth visiting this pub for the music night upstairs every tuesday evening. Extremely welcoming and friendly, the informal set up means you just bring an instrument, some material or just yourself to perform! One of the best live music nights in Aberystwyth - it even attracts people from miles away!

My two visits here were the same each time - its packed and deafening! Academy always strikes me as what would happen if Wetherspoons didnt serve food, and had more tables to pack more people in.
Good if you're on a lads or girls night out, otherwise give it a miss.

Popular as the only place open till 4 that isn't a club. Gets a mix of locals and students. The back room has loads of different events throughout the year, and has live bands and dj nights regularly. Some events are hosted by the uni societies, and so charge a small entrance fee. There's a cracking open mic night here every other Sunday evening during term time.
The Angel is your typical open late, sticky floor, busy, noisy venue popular with students and young people.. Although saying that it does have a darts team and is a very different place during the week!
The only beer here is Hancocks HB which, to be honest, isn't great. Probably best to stick to the Worthys.

Great pub with a nice atmosphere. Popular with students so gets a lot of big groups in the student season. It does have a dedicated assortment of regulars too, so it has a nice mix of punters.
Scholars has two real ales, Reverend James and Speckled Hen. Fairly average prices, but the beer is well kept and the staff friendly.
This was the first pub I went in when I arrived in Aberystwyth last year, and have been going back regularly ever since.

One of the best pubs in Aberystwyth. Busy on the weekends because of the live music, and popular due to its late opening.
The prices are pretty steep, but for real ale drinkers its a good bet. There are always 3 different beers on, one being a guest ale and so constantly changing. The beer is always kept well, and served by staff who actually know how to pour it!
Must have been a while ago they had the TVs, they don't have any in there now.

The Bay is now closed. It closed over the summer of 2009. It is currently borded up and doesn't look as if it is going to reopen anytime soon.

Yr Hen Orsaf, Aberystwyth
Your average Wetherspoons really, lots of decent beers at good prices. This one has the advantage of being on the station with a nice outside bit practically on the platform - so you get to watch the train come in every two hours!
