A good traditional Victorian pub in a nice location just off the river. The Youngs real ale was great. Surprisingly down-to-earth for such a prime location, and better for it.

This is a down-to-earth but comfortable pub in an area where such things are are on the ground. The only pub in Richmond where this northerner felt at home. The Youngs real ale was good. Food looked tasty and home made. Locals were friendly enough.
I would definitely go back here.

The White Cross, Richmond
No smoking allowed, so its a nice clean atmosphere in here. On my first ever visit to Richmond I toured all four Good Beer Guide pubs and the beer quality here was the lowest, though not bad.
Being right on the river the place is a understandably a magnet for tourists, though the prics are reasonable.
