The Hope and Sirloin, Farringdon

Went there this morning - was CLOSED. Doesn't look like reopening.

The Patch, East Dulwich

Now called The Patch - not yet re-opened

The Green Jackets, Shoreham by Sea

Tesco asked for planning permission to turn this into a(nother!) Tesco's express, citing the great benefit of "up to" 25 jobs being created, no doubt nearly all temp or casual. Like most big firms nowadays they'll probably go ahead with or without permission.

The Stonhouse, Clapham

Do people in Clapham only go to PUBS for food?
I went in this afternoon about 4.30 for a drink (having found the place purely by accident)and was served by the most polite young lady.
The beer was good, and the bar and patio areas very clean and well kept.
I also went to four Clapham High St pubs today but the Stonhouse was definitely the one - as a drinker, rather than a restaurant goer - that I would make my local if I was lucky enough to live in the area.

The Falcon, Clapham Junction

In case it isn't obvious from his comments, be aware tht "kiwiphil" is the manager of the Falcon (since Jo left)

The Duke Of Wellington, Shoreham by Sea

Interior refurbishment is going to happen fairly soon according to what I heard last Tuesday.

Inside 72, East Dulwich

72 was actually a Building Society branch for many years - I think it was Chelsea BS when I arrived in East Dulwich ( 1979 ) and more recently Cheltenham & Gloucester - probably got sold when C&G became part of the Lloyds empire.

The Bank, Plymouth

Steaks ARE v good!!! Went in with the Mrs, 2 grandsons and a family friend about 6pm Thursday 16 March - had a couple of drinks and some excellent meals - staff very welcoming.

The Bishop, East Dulwich

Re: the previous comment, 3 a pint is the norm in SE22 these days - not many places where it's cheaper, and let's face it, we're paying for the whole experience - the ambience, facilities, etc.. If price was the only consideration I'd get 6 cans of Beck's for a fiver from the Payless across the road and drink 'em on Goose Green!!!

The Fox on the Hill, Denmark Hill

Beer must be good in the Fox - "steveo500" doesn't seem to know which side of Ruskin Park he was!

The Station Hotel, Clitheroe

Stayed here with some of the family from 27 - 31 July. Agree with the previous comments, accomodation is pleasant by pub standards (not suitable for those who can't cope with a few stairs, however!) The staff very welcoming and helpful, and a nice location. Also good breakfast as long as you like full English (I do!!!)

The Sun Hotel and Bar, Lancaster

Went to the Sun with some of the family on a very wet lunchtime on 28 July - my first visit to Lancaster since childhood days. Only about 20 punters in the place, but a very welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately I was nominated to drive that day so can't comment on the beer, but had a really nice pot of Real Tea!!

The Goose on the Square, Nottingham

Went in here last Sat night (first time I'd stayed in Nottingham since 1974) I found the opposite of Medussa's experience.
Having waited in vain to be served in The Roebuck (Wetherspoons I believe) I fetched up here and got served straightaway - albeit by a woman rather than one of the "worst barmen in the world" - even though the place was very busy.
