BRB at The Gate, Alexandra Park
Popped in for a quick beer between trains the other (Thursday) night. Young crowd. Seemed fine.
Took a while to get served, though they had run out of all the draught beer, and was working their way throught the bottled stuff.
Big screens showing sports - well it was darts, but you get the point. Few people in the pizza place at the back. Will give that a go next time.

Was passing by, so tried this the other Saturday.
Inside was a kind of retro 70s scene, but with some obscure beers on tap. I tried the cherry beer. Really nice though it was 3.80 for a pint.
Outside was a nice enough garden, and you can forget you're near a busyish main road. Forgot about those pesky wasps in beer gardens. The barbecue was starting up but had to go.
Would definitely go back.

Open the latest of the pubs at weekends - rather than bars - though correct me if I'm wrong. Until 1 on Sat night. Don't get the Irish theme - it's not like anyone Irish goes or would go to a themed pub.
I still preferred it when the last landlady was there. Always reminded me of Sharon Osbourne for some reason.
Some of the music on tape is dire compilation stuff, but at that time of night you are too drunk to care. Toilets get a bit waterlogged by the end though.

I prefer this place earlier in the night when you can virtually have the whole place to yourself. Suddenly after 7:30 the place is mobbed.
From memory, Amstel and Leffe, Hoegarden (?) beers, and various cocktails. Served in a variety of strange glasses.
Sort of a dance floor but the sofas seem to have taken it over. Weird seeing the DJ in a little hidey hole above the toilets.
I love the picture of the Victoria Road tower block being demolished.
Shame it has found itself stuck in the one-way loop now.

Come here on Tuesdays for the Quiz night. I should do better, but members of my team come out with some right rubbish.
Can take an age to get served - though never been on any other night - and no air conditioning, which during the Hot Summer of '06 makes for a sauna. Curiously the windows can't even be opened!
Plenty of people in the beer Garden. Can't think of any other in the area that have a grassy beer garden.

The pub behind Enfield market. Probably the best place to go out of the bunch, but it still lacking something.
The place is on two levels downstairs, You get the older (shall we say more colourful ) locals on the lower level, and the younger (just about nowadays ) congregated in the middle section. All friendly enough, though seem to stick to their own. At the rear there is a seated area to sample the (never dared try it) food. Under this quite nice high ceilinged bit is where you get the before mentioned bands playing. I hope this works out as when this place is full there is a good humming atmosphere.
Up the stairs to the 'pool' area. Not my bag, and you have to come down to get the drinks.
Bogs always pretty unpleasant I must say.
7/10

The Pantechnicon Rooms, Knightsbridge
Quite a decent pub for food and prices (considering where it is ). Nice to sit/ stand outside on a Summers evening. Coming soon, can't wait.

Ha Ha Bar and Canteen, Muswell Hill
Young crowd, pretty standard 'chain' decor.
Agree on being pricey and slow service but been to worse places. TVs dotted about showing sports. Think they have Quiz nights on Monday.

The Victoria Stakes, Muswell Hill
Went here for a quick pint the other day. A great place to relax with the Sunday papers.
Beer nearer 3 quid than two - but wine list looked fairly reasonably priced. Great smell drifting from the kitchen. Don't attempt to walk up the hill to MH after.
