The Old Wellington Inn, Manchester
I've visited this pub over the years but have seen a recent decline. The fullers I had was watery, not enhanced by the plastic glass, served by an unfriendly barman who looked like he could do with some decent beer himself. The prescence of security may be a necessity, but I had to hold on to my pals' jacket when he went to the loo, as some shifty charactors were eyeing it up on the bench. The ambience was not there. Shame

Many thanks to the young man serving at The Bree Louise on 24/7/10. It was a hot muggy evening & I was gasping for a beer having just returned from staying with an old non beer drinking pal for 2 days, & was en route back to Manchester. As a lone female, it can sometimes be daunting , drinking alone, but I was made to feel welcome, had a good chat about the delicious beers & he sold my third pint pouring it into my water bottle for my reluctant journey home on my request! I got my Camra discount (don't forget to carry your card!) & was impressed with his knowledge passion & interest in real ale. (so often, bar staff elsewhere no nothing about what they are serving).
No wonder the Bree Louise have won the Camra Pub or the Year award. They have not slacked off since doing so & I can certainly say that the two staff that I met were a credit to the pub. A brief but enjoyable visit. Cheers.

The Old Cage, Lingfield
My first visit to this delightful hostelry & sadly just a brief one.The Harveys was sadly off, there was a Sharps on offer but I chose the Old Cage made by Jailors. Oh how sad that I had time for only a half! Delicious & a snip at 2.40 a pint, what a bargain for a Surrey pub. My sister had a sip & is now in danger of changing her lager lout status for real ale..........
The staff were friendly & apparently the food is recommended by the regulars. A must to try again.
